With my name being derived from the negative connotation that my industry has I had to encourage the pax around the origins of School Lunch and what it is today. The quality is exponentially better than what it was when I went through school or when Billy Madison went back to school and had some Sloppy Joes. It does need to be recounted that president Truman had a significant issue in 1946 when young men in the draft were being declared unfit for service due to malnutrition. Therefore he signed the National School Lunch act that created the National School Lunch program to serve nutritious meals to children all across the nation. Food insecurity continues to be an issue across our nation and encouraging your children to eat at their school provides funding for schools to continue to invest in better and higher quality products.
